Delete your account
You can delete your AtivaMoney account and your data at any time — directly in the app or by email. Here's how to do it, what gets erased, and what we're legally required to retain (and for how long).
📅 Last updated: 10 July 20261. Delete in the app (recommended)
The fastest way to delete your account is directly in the AtivaMoney app:
- Open the AtivaMoney app and sign in with the account you want to delete.
- Go to Settings → Account.
- Tap Delete account.
- Confirm your identity (we may ask for your password or a verification code) and confirm the deletion.
Once you confirm, your account and associated data are marked for deletion and access is closed. Deletion completes within the timelines in Section 5.
2. Delete by email
If you can't access the app (for example, you lost your device), you can request deletion by email:
To protect your account, we may ask for additional information to verify your identity before processing the request. For your security, we will never ask for your password by email — and you should never share it.
3. What gets erased
When you delete your account, we permanently erase the following personal data:
- Profile and credentials — name, email address and phone number (used for multi-factor authentication);
- Open Banking connections — PSD2 authorisations are revoked and the aggregated banking data (accounts, balances, transactions and metadata) is erased;
- Personal financial data — categories, tags, budgets, goals, cashflow forecasts and preferences;
- Wallets you own — along with their associated history (see the note on shared wallets in Section 6).
4. What is retained and for how long (GDPR)
We honour your right to erasure (Art. 17 GDPR). However, some data may need to be kept for limited periods to comply with legal obligations:
- Account personal data: erased or anonymised within a maximum of 30 days of the request;
- Billing and accounting data: where it exists (e.g. subscription payment records), it is retained for the period required by law — generally 10 years under Portuguese tax legislation — after which it is erased;
- Anonymised statistical data: data with no possibility of identifying you may be kept for analysis and service improvement.
This retention is based on a legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR). For more detail, see our Privacy Policy — Data Retention.
5. Timelines
- In-app request: deletion starts immediately after confirmation; the effective removal of personal data completes within a maximum of 30 days;
- Email request: we start processing once we've verified your identity, usually within a few business days, after which the same 30-day maximum applies to the deletion.
6. Subscription & shared wallets
- Active subscription: if you have a paid subscription, you can cancel it in Settings before deleting your account. Deleting your account does not entitle you to a refund of periods already paid;
- Shared or transferred wallets: if you shared or transferred ownership of a wallet, that wallet's data may remain with the new owner, who becomes responsible for it. See the Privacy Policy for more detail.
